Wasatch PowderbirdTM Guides started in 1973 when a group of outdoor entrepreneurs in Utah wanted to put a sense of adventure and exploration back into skiing. We believed there was an elemental side of skiing that got lost within the traditional boundaries of a ski resort. We were hungry for first descents and miles of untracked terrain. We were passionate about snowy peaks and wanted to explore them in the safest and most responsible manner possible. Most importantly, we thought something magical and heroic happened when man challenged the mountains on a snowy stage.
Today, we are just as excited to explore new places with skiers and snowboarders as we were three decades ago. Since then, we've changed our name to Wasatch Powderbird Guides and increased our trip list to discover hidden powder stashes all over the world. As our guests grew interested in people and places along with powder, we've added fine food, high-class lodging and unique cultural experiences to our local and international expeditions.
Despite these changes, the fundamentals and philosophy of Wasatch Powderbird Guides remain the same: we still operate out of our heliport in Little Cottonwood Canyon, located just 29 miles from Salt Lake City Airport. We're still committed to exploring pristine places in an eco-friendly and responsible manner. We still pride ourselves on our impeccable safety record and we're still excited about discovering untracked powder all over the planet...and taking you there!
